Specialty contractors can only perform work in the specialty they are registered in. They cannot hire subcontractors. They are required to carry a continuous contractor surety bond in the amount of $15,000 and hold a general liability policy with a minimum limit of $200,000 liability and $50,000 property damage or a $250,000 combined single limit policy. Your bond and insurance must use your exact business name, and L&I must be listed as a certificate holder for your liability insurance.

To become a registered contractor in Washington you generally must:
Complete the contractor registration application
Obtain the Bond Required by State
